At first I thought, 50, really 50 reasons? This was an awesome list. I love my kitties. Thanks for a fun read.

Clearly gender biased. Men love cats too. And the word for #1 is killed or murdered, not euthanized.

Thank you for reading Mike. Yes, the article is a little gender biased. Its the fault of the writer not the cause. I know there are plenty of men who adore cats. And I agree with your assessment of the terminology, but I try to keep language non-threatening on articles that younger children might read.

Love this! I started feeding a little stray kitty a few months ago and, guess what? I now have 4 baby kittens I'll need to find homes for in a couple of weeks. (I will take mama in to get her fixed just as soon as she's done nursing.) I need to print this hub out and use it as marketing material in my campaign to get rid of those babies!

Hello Melissa!

Great page! It was really funny until I reached #9.

1st the funniest part to me is- Introducing yourself as “The crazy cat lady” will get rid of the creepy guy that keeps offering to buy you a drink.

I love cats and if I could save them all I would do it- I have about 17 right now- and thank God for a free program in Ohio Pet Promise who fixed all my cats for free.

It's time to hook back up with them because I once again have gained more cats- 5 more need fixed.

In Ohio they receive about 9,000 stray cats a month into the main shelter and 98% of them die.

A lot of people look at me like I am truly crazy- but I feel as though they are telling me to kills my cats, because where are they going to go? All the non-kill shelters are full, plus the others will kill them.

So I really don't have much of a choice and I do pass up cats all the time because I am only one person. I think that everyone would just take in one or 2 cats than their wouldn't be people like me trying to save them all-as to speak.

I tell them we live with the animals- LOL!

Those who don't care about suffering animals, most likely don't care much about humans much either.

I love this page it made me laugh and than it made me want to cry for all the beautiful cats that are suffering & dying. They deserve love too!

Voted up,useful,& awesome!

Good job!

Thanks for all the comments! When I wrote this we actually didn't have a cat as per landlord. A few weeks later, we found this beautiful calico/tabby mix (weird, I know) on the windowsill of our fourth floor apartment... my daughter was playing with her through the window. Several visits later, we established that the cat was homeless so took her to our local no kill shelter. My child cried for days until we begged the landlord, paid a ridiculous deposit, and now we have Annie :)

Hey :)

So my mum, brother and I all want to get a cat. Because all three of us love cats, we will share the responsibility. I have had other pets in the past, but its hasn't exactly worked out as well. We had rats last year, but my dad told me to get rid of them because he didn't like the smell, and one of them had a disease we didn't know about until we brought him home. But earlier we got a puppy when I was 8 so obviously I couldn't look after it by myself. I'm 13 now and from what I've heard, training and caring for a cat isn't as easy as I thought it would be! All my family had pets except for our house. My dad has had over 6 dogs throughout his whole life, and he knows that I LOVE animals, and I really want a long-term pet, but he always has something negative to bring up. When I asked him whether he likes cats, he said no. I asked him why and he replied with "They moult too much." I spent 10 minutes explaining how dogs moult more than cats and how he should know that considering his own son (my older brother that lives on his own in malaysia) has had 2 dogs, 4 geese, 5 hamsters and 6 cats. How can I convince him that 1) I am responsible enough to feed and play with a cat - not to mention cleaning it's litter box - and 2) cats are amazing animals and by adopting 1 or 2 it can save their lives and improve ours?
